You’re Invited

July & early August wreak havoc on church community rhythms, so the Church @ Spring Hill is reading and praying through the gospels together over the the next six weeks. You can join us at The-Element. There are posts five days a week. Some of the posts will be video, some questions, some guest thoughts, some meditations.

Our hope is that over the next 40 or so days that we as a community, no matter where we are, can be focused on and praying for the same things and will be unified and strengthened by this experience. So…you’re invited to join us on the journey. Please add your thoughts to the discussion.

Roman Catholic couples are being encouraged to pray together before they have sex.

A book published by a prominent Church group invites those setting out on married life to recite the specially-composed Prayer Before Making Love.

It is aimed at ‘purifying their intentions’ so that the act is not about selfishness or hedonism.

The prayer, which appears in the Prayer Book for Spouses, implores God ‘to place within us love that truly gives, tenderness that truly unites, self-offering that tells the truth and does not deceive, forgiveness that truly receives, loving physical union that welcomes’.

It adds: ‘Open our hearts to you, to each other and to the goodness of your will.

‘Cover our poverty in the richness of your mercy and forgiveness. Clothe us in true dignity and take to yourself our shared aspirations, for your glory, for ever and ever.’

Prayer for the Third Sunday of Advent

Stir up your power, O Lord, and with great might
come among us; and, because we are sorely hindered by our sins, let
your bountiful grace and mercy speedily help and deliver us; through
Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor
and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
