We Win!

(This post is personal & though it will reference the campaign my dad is a part of, it is not for,  from or sanctioned by them.)

Being involved in my my dad’s campaign proves to me why it is so hard to get great people into politics. The things that are being done and said about him and others in our family or people that we care about are way way out of bounds. It’s really sad.

I’m so proud of my dad and our family as I have gotten to be here in Monroe to see them take the high road first hand. I’m glad that my kids get to see their grandparents and uncles take honorable actions in the middle of a hell storm.

With one day to go I’m sure we’ll wake tomorrow with a whole new set of distorted details and lies from Jay Guillot, @schoolchoiceLA, and the Alliance for Better Classrooms. They have lied for a month now…no reason for them to stop with a day to go. Who know what they will come up with tomorrow?

Whatever they may say in the morning be it a press release, press conference, new TV add or new robo call…it will just be another flailing attempt to drag others down. A response or counterpunch so to speak to the hammering that they have taken in the press and online in the past few days…for their lack of honesty, yet again. It’s actually a recurring theme.

But in reality…what they’ll never “get”, I/we feel no real pressure to defend our dad. His reputation and his character speak for him. He has more endorsements than I can figure out how to get on our webpage. The only thing that Jay Guillot and his supporters are doing by spreading their venom is making themselves look bad. Their character or lack of is obvious. I wouldn’t want them anywhere around my children. They are missing the “bigger” point.

Since you read this far…<The  Things That Bother Me The Most>

1) Aubrey saw the adds for the first time last night. Watching her face drop was jarring but like kids do she quickly bounced back with…”That stuffs not right. They are just lying. How can they do that?” Kids see through BS pretty quickly so this one doesn’t bother me as much as it did.

2) The fact that Jay Guillot on his site claims to be a Christian. If this is a model of a Christian in politics, we have missed the boat. Jesus would never do or say or approve the things that are being done in Jay Guillot’s name – with or without his knowledge. The kingdom is damaged. That bothers me and it should him but it’s obvious that it doesn’t.

3) That people with lots of money think they can just do what they want. Ethics, morals and the law be damned. Greed drives this whole process and it’s not really about the kids in this race…it’s about the $$$. Lot’s of it.

I END WITH THIS: I LOVE MY FAMILY! They are awesome and no matter how Saturday turns out. Even if we lose the vote…we win!
Our family is better & closer because of this experience.
Mr. Guillot and those who have spent over $200,000 to see him win can’t say that.
So, it’s great! You’ll see me holding a sign on Forsythe Avenue in seven hours & at West Monroe vs. Ruston tomorrow night with a smile on my face because of this…we win – no matter what!

I just hope that the students and teachers of District 5 do as well.

Peace ~

Bed Sheets & Golf Tournaments. Huh?

(This post is a Shameless promotion to help a couple o’ kids I kinda like.)

So this chick, the eldest Guice child, Arden, auditioned and earned a spot at Destination Broadway – a camp on Broadway (Manhattan; not Nashville ;-) for those interested in pursuing the arts through theater. She’s pumped as you can imagine. Mer & I have smiled, laughed, cried (proud of her),planned, budgeted, and smiled, laughed cried some more (cost). We’re trying to raise $3000 to get them there. I’ll be staying here to be part of some good friends marriage ceremony.

Message William For Colors if you can't see thisSo we are raising funds to send her there. This is where bed sheets play a part in this. In what has to be one of the most odd fundraisers ever, Arden is selling bed sheets. Weird I know, but we have a set that we’ve been using for a little less than a year & they are awesome. They are the softest I’ve ever had.

1200 count, Egyptian Cotton, Wrinkle Free & Deep Pockets
Cost: $35

I didn’t realize how inexpensive this was until I looked at some sheet sets at Costco today. And this is a good deal. You can see the colors in the picture (click to enlarge).

If you need some sheets, if you are needing to purchase a wedding gift, if you are just wanting to support Arden, message me & we’ll hook you up.

And then there is this guy, Abram, who is part of a soccer club in Franklin, TNFC. The team(s) of U9 players from his age group are currently ranked…

#2, #6, #9 in the state of Tennessee
#11, #23, #55, in the USA

(Like all of the U9 teams in the USA…kinda amazing to have three teams all in one place ranked so high! It’s a really special group of boys & families and I’m not just talking about soccer talent; there are some awesome people in this group!)

With all of that comes a large amount of travel costs as we try to provide great playing experiences for the kids. But that as well costs money. So far my golfer friends…

We have a golf tournament next week which you can find out about here.

Cost is $100 / player
There are a ton of good prizes; Lunch is included.
Half of what you pay/spend goes toward Abram personally (not the soccerclub or the course)
You can just donate toward Abram without playing in the tournament.

You can register or donate here.

That’s it. Nothing deep here. Just a shameless promotion of events to help out the Guice kids. Thankfully Aubrey isn’t costing us much this summer! Two gold stars for her.

So many of you are involved anyway so to you…I do say thanks. I appreciate the communities of people that help shepherd my children. We are very fortunate.

Message me with any questions.

Peace ~

William

Merry Christmas!
