You're writing is fine. Good stuff here. Buddy you've grown up to be a pretty awesome guy. Praying for you today. I often pray for love and compassion as well. I have to keep check of my sarcastic nature.

Stick with those guys and with Sunday mornings. There is value in both and you need both for editing*.

One of the things that I have been learning over the past few weeks as we have been attending a liturgical worship gathering is how much Sunday mornings really are consumer or personality driven. One of the beauties of liturgical worship is that there are no personalities. The whole day is built around proceeding to the Eucharist. The gathering is about Christ and the church; not about how good someone looks, sings or teaches. All of that little rant to say...I have felt what you are expressing in the past, several times. The trick seems to be for me to keep worship about worship - to worship Jesus and not the gathering or it's artists.

So the group is for learning, serving, growing, sharing, etc.
Sunday's are to gather with like minded people to focus on Jesus...nothing else, thus they both have value.

----------
*I like the word editing better than accountability.
Accountability is an accounting word which suggests your getting something to the bottom line.
Editing (think book editing)...the editor takes the material and tries to make it the best it can be.
So, I think communities like yours are really for editing, to make each of you all you were created to be.

Nope...no hatred in my heart. I have a number Mormon who I think would tell you differently. The danger with posts like this is that people miss the point even though it is stated in this post at the beginning & end.

I have compassion for Judas and for them - plus a lot of other people as well. If you had been here over the past few weeks as I've talked to the missionaries that keep coming by my house you would know this. Just because I write a tongue & cheek post about something or someone doesn't mean I have hatred toward them. I' poke fun at a lot of things/people and I have no problem when people do it to me. All of that to say, I no more hate Mormons than I do say fundamentalist TV/Internet preachers or people who completely misread Genesis by not honoring the context...groups I often joke about. I just think they are wrong.

Also, Are you saying Mormons are Christians? If so, we would disagree here. Early on in the Christian story at Nicea a council set forth what is in and out of bounds for orthodox Christian belief. Thus the Nicene Creed. Mormonism is not in bounds.

Not sure what you mean with the evolution line so I won't address it and 1 Timothy 4/5 covers a lot of ground & is kind of general so I'm not sure about that one as well.

I know we're not Jesus, but it sounds like you got some hatred in your heart for the Mormans. It's odd to me, that you can find compassion on Christ's heart for Judas, but not another professed Christian because of their church history. A lot of the "church" is still segregated today because of deep rooted beliefs in theory of evolution. Maybe a better point about America, or the American church would be 1Tim4-5.

I believe i fall into this group...here is my perspective on me :) The Good: I get to hear all of the teaching of the Word that i want (as you mentioned), I get to hear teachers that talk about things/topics that i cant find locally, I feel more connected to the global body in the sense that there are other people that believe what i believe (Doctrines of Grace, but not frozen chosen types), even though they may not live near me...The Bad: I look down upon local believers because they are so shallow in some of their thinking sometimes (example: this text means this to me, or God wouldnt want that for me... side note- im praying for grace with that, as i know its very terrible to be like that) instead of taking the time to listen and study the Word on their own time like i do, and because i look down upon them i struggle to show them love and compassion (again prayer to have love and compassion). In reality God has granted me a gift by being introduced to pod casts, which by listening to the teachers i like has given me a desire to seek Him more.....(tons of other pros and cons but gonna keep it short) as far as community goes, that is one thing we are really pushing (a couple buddies of mine) we really want to study, learn, live life, and grow together, and that is a result of me being a hybrid i have found a HUGE need for that, but on the flip side it devalues sunday mornings to me (in a sinful way).....hope that comes out right trying to be honest, writing is NOT my strong suit....

This is awesome! I'm extremely shocked that you've never eaten some of those foods, but it's cool you're giving it a go. We've also started eating much better recently. The documentary, Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead, (http://fatsickandnearlydead.com) convinced me. We juice a lot, which makes all of it a lot easier and the mixture we usually do is quite tasty. It's a bundle of spinach, several carrots, sometimes a bit of kale, bok choy, or chard, one or two cucumbers, 2 apples, a bit of ginger, and sometimes a lime.

Yeah, entirely too vulnerable to criticism. This is definitely not for me. "Faithful the wounds of a friend." I will continue to welcome those, but not going to throw the door open to just anyone.
